Introduction

Have you ever encountered a project that was abandoned, leaving you with the daunting task of getting it back on track? This was the situation I faced when I was brought on board to help Sailing Sun who had a stranded project in need of a website to attract customers.

Sailing Sun is a B2B and B2C Taiwanese consulting company, providing IT service and data analysing services in urban water system since 1996.

Problem statement

How do we give a clear picture of what we do and provide an easy way for the clients to reach us when they need the service?

Solution

Agile approach

To turn things around, I utilized various tools and techniques to manage the project efficiently and deliver quality work. I began by implementing daily scrum sessions and using Azure DevOps to track progress, set goals, and collaborate effectively with the client.

Research

After conducting research, analysing their competitors and user habits in different market regions.
According to OOSGA’s research in 2023, Line has been the dominant social media platform in Taiwan since it overtook Facebook in 2018.
Also in LINE user report conducted by Nielsen Corporation in 2022, over 80% users have used various LINE official account’s service, 79% users find the experience feels one-to-one, and 78% think the official accounts have provided the services that are customised to their needs.
Therefore I convinced the company to use LINE as their main customer service channel for local business approach in Taiwan region.

User Journey

For the optimal user journey, I made sure the google map’s info is up-to-date to the new branding strategy.

Prototyping

With the help of Figma, I created a design system and sorted through old design files to create low and high fidelity wireframes, mockups, and prototypes. To create a unique and visually appealing website, I sourced suitable illustrations and modified them to fit the client’s brand image. I also customised the website design according to the best-suited channel for customer service in different countries.

Thinking for the future

There’s room for English version in the future, for different market I’ll adjust the design accordingly, based on different geographic user habits, for example, we’ll likely swap LINE for Facebook or Twitter.

Testing

Choosing illustrations is a crucial part of setting the tone of the website, so I conducted AB testings throughout the daily scrum, to see which style is better fitting the company.

Vigorous testings in the deployment stage is also done both on computer and mobile versions with accessibility in mind.

Graphic Design & Printing

Lastly, considering the habitual market practise in Taiwan, it’s practical to have physical business cards for local sales team to promote business and make contact in both formal and informal situations, so I redesigned the business card using my printing experience ensuring the optimal result.

Results

Sailing Sun’s new modern and professional website is now up and running, generating leads and attracts customers. The new website also features an improved user experience and more streamlined navigation.
